As this week concludes I think of goals that I set for my own fitness and those clients that I coach and train each week. Goals are one of the most important priorities to track and follow through with anything you are trying to accomplish, especially in fitness. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate or in advanced stages of training, knowing where you started and how far you have come is essential.

Goal setting can begin at any time and one of the most important aspects is to write down where you want to be and how long you believe it will take you. Each day as you train hard and follow through you can see where you are in relation to the goals you set. In my experience a picture is worth a thousand words and not only do I write my goals down but have a picture of when I was at my peak physical condition. Now I know that may seem narcissistic but seeing something that can be accomplished conditions me to follow through with my workouts each day. It also can remind me of eating properly and the discipline necessary to maintain the course of my goals.

This weekend think of several goals that you would like to accomplish in one week, one month or even one year. A little at a time whether it be strength, weight loss, stability or endurance. Make it personal and share it with someone who cares about you and your success. You are more apt to follow through when close support is routing for you to accomplish your goals as well.

Enjoy the weekend!
